Queer stories orbiting around Conference 25.

How typography and art can fight against discrimination

The Korean Typography Society was founded in 2008 to study letters and typography. Letterseed is a typography journal published by the KTA since 2009, and Conference is a typography lecture and workshop held since 2010.

With the theme “New Season: Publishing as a Worldview,” Letterseed 24 centered on Conference 25, which was held in June 2023, and actively addressed discrimination and inequality based on gender, race, and generation. In addition to the story of Conference 25, which consisted of “lectures” by speakers who support diversity through practice and “workshops” with queer participants, Letterseed 24 also explores the ways in which typography and art are currently opposing discrimination through “planning,” “collection,” and “critique.
