The Korean Society of Typography was founded in 2008 to advance research in typography and lettering. Since December 2009, it has published LetterSeed, an international typography journal.
The latest issue, LetterSeed 17: Gender and Typography, explores gender issues—a prominent topic in recent Korean society—through the lens of typography and graphic design. It highlights examples of graphic design works addressing queer and feminist themes and examines gender discrimination within the design industry. The issue also features <The Most Beautiful Typography Books of 2017>, selected from publications released that year. This edition marks the final LetterSeed project produced by 6699 Press, which has captivated readers with its distinctive book designs since 2015.
