The seventh book of design criticism by Choi Bum
For the humanistic thinking of design
Choi Bum, who has been a design critic for 32 years, has published his seventh book of design criticism. It centers on the articles he published in the webzine Humanities 360 from 2017 to 2019, as well as his columns in daily newspapers and essays in various other media. This is one of the most popular and free-flowing criticism collections ever published, and it explores design through the lens of the humanities.
There was a time when the phrase “◌◌ meets the humanities” was in vogue. But even when it was popular, books that combined design and the humanities were rare, indicating that people didn’t (or couldn’t) see a clear connection between the two disciplines at the time. In this book, the author develops a humanistic approach to design by looking at design through four lenses: culture, society, history, and ethics.
