Blending Analog and Digital: The Journey of Paperman
A Showcase of True Designerly Practice and Attitude
Just as Sony has the Walkman and Pixar has RenderMan, Korea’s design world has Paperman. This book tells the 10-year story of the developer of Paperman, Guho Choi, who is a French-born Korean graphic designer, app developer, and amateur songwriter. This digital service, created for the analog world of books, helps calculate the amount of paper needed in a book production. Despite his background in visual design, Choi learned to code specifically to serve the needs of print. His apps have been featured in a TV commercial for iPad 2 and awarded a Red Dot Design Award. His journey of turning a passion into a profession, and his unwavering dedication to his craft, provides valuable lessons and inspiration for designers and publishing professionals alike.
