Yoon Ho-seop: Living the Dream of a Green Planet

The works in Yoon Ho-seop’s collection—posters, T-shirts, logotypes, exhibitions—are imbued with green messages he delivers daily, not only through the content but also in the process and methods of creation. Every piece reflects his unwavering dedication to the environment. He shares the inseparable connection between design and environmental issues, firmly believing that design can contribute to solving even a small part of these challenges.

Since the 1991 World Jamboree, Yoon has focused on integrating education, design, and environmental awareness. Alongside his students, he has developed design materials for effective environmental campaigns. His notable contributions include the Water (水) exhibition during the International Year of Water, participation in the 2005 Gwangju Biennale of Design, and exhibiting at the first Eco-Friendly Product Fair in Ilsan in 2005 with his graduate students.

Since 2000, Yoon has operated his personal website, Green Canvas (www.greencanvas.com), where he shares insights about the environment, design, and sustainable living, fostering a collective green vision with the public.

What is the BABA Project?

The BABA Project is an unprecedented series of design books that compile the works of leading Korean designers. Each compact 64-page volume succinctly encapsulates the designers’ creative worlds, presenting their artistry without unnecessary embellishments. The concept centers on showing the artist through their work, offering an unfiltered view of their creative philosophy.

Ahn Graphics, the publisher, has been dedicated to establishing the identity of Korean design through projects such as Korean Traditional Patterns, which systematized traditional Korean motifs, NANA Project, which explored the works and philosophies of contemporary young designers, and LALA Project, which examined the essence of Korean design identity.

The BABA Project continues this legacy, documenting the present and future of Korean design while exploring its evolving identity. The first volumes feature the works of Yoon Ho-seop, Seo Ki-heun, Ahn Sang-soo, Lee Sung-pyo, and Kim Hyun, with plans for ongoing publications to build a rich repository of Korean design heritage.
