It’s not about Automotive anymore, it’s about Mobility
This book, Textbook of Mobility Design, is a revised and expanded version of Textbook of Automotive Design published in 2015. The development and evolution of transportation means have now created a new paradigm of movement beyond simply automobiles. Therefore, we decided to cover ‘mobility’ rather than automobiles, and added and updated information and details on new mobility.
Automobiles have become more beautiful and comfortable over time. However, very commercial automobiles, on the other hand, are not influenced by market size and are leading the change of humanity by suggesting new values and paradigms such as electric vehicles and autonomous driving. This technological development can be discussed in a complex aspect such as the development of digital technology and changes in power due to energy development, the improvement of human capabilities due to devices such as augmented reality, and the Internet of Things.
In particular, this revised edition presents various arguments on the development of digital technology and changes in power due to energy development, electric storage, and new types of automobiles, namely ‘smart mobility’. Now, we have reached a point where we can experience flying cars and autonomous mobility without drivers, not in imagination or future predictions, but in actual reality. This book presents not only the design of mobility, but also the history and paradigm of mobility, so that current and future mobility designers can predict and prepare for cutting-edge technologies and changes.
