Ahn Sang-soo: The Architect of Hangeul#
Ahn Sang-soo, a Hangeul typographer who has built his own graphic universe using Hangeul as material and typography as structure, presents a collection of his works. From his 1981 modular Ahnsangsoo Font to the 2008 poster Between Sejong and Gutenberg, his experiments with Hangeul unfold in the forms of posters, typefaces, logotypes, the magazine Bogoseo\Bogoseo, letter art, and Hangeul-themed installations.
Ahn designed the Ahnsangsoo Font in 1985, pioneering the movement to break free from the rigid rectangular framework of Hangeul. He later created the Isang Font, Myrrh Font, and Mano Font. In 2007, he was awarded Gutenberg Prize, recognizing his contributions to the advancement of typography, illustration, editing, and production worldwide.
Ahn also curated the Exhibition Beautiful Hangeul and directed publications such as Korean Traditional Patterns, The Travels of Poor Artists, and the magazine Bogoseo\Bogoseo.
