Simon Morley

Simon Morley is a visual artist and until 2023 was Assistant Professor in the College of Arts, Dankook University, Republic of Korea. As well as being author of three titles for Thames & Hudson—Modern Painting, Seven Keys to Modern Art and Writing on the Wall—He is also the author of The Simple Truth: The Monochrome in Modern Art and By Any Other Name: A Cultural History of the Rose. He has lectured at such museums as Tate, The National Gallery, Hayward Gallery, Serpentine Gallery, Whitechapel Gallery and Camden Arts Centre, and has contributed to numerous publications including Third Text, World Art, the TLS, The Burlington Magazine, Art Monthly, The Art Newspaper, Contemporary Art and the Independent on Sunday.

Chung Yeon-shim

Chung Yeon-shim is professor of Art History and Theory (예술학과) at Hongik University in Seoul, South Korea. She received her Ph.D. in art history at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University. Dr Chung’s research interests encompass both modern and contemporary Western and East Asian art. Before teaching at Hongik, Dr Chung was an assistant professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and a researcher for the exhibition The World of Nam June Paik at the Guggenheim Museum, New York, in 1999. She also curated several landmark exhibitions in New York and in Seoul since 2000 as an independent curator; she worked as one of the curators for the 2018 Gwangju Biennale. Chung was a Fulbright fellow and visiting research professor at IFA/NYU from Sept. 2018 to Aug. 2019.

Son Boo-kyung

Graduated from the Department of Art Theory at Hongik University and earned a master’s degree from the same university with research on spatial experiences in Minimalism and New Media Art. Co-translated works such as 40 Essential Readings in Art Theory and Criticism, 21 Terms for Media Criticism, and Postproduction. Published papers including “Jeffrey Shaw’s New Media Installations: Tension between Physical Space and Virtual Space”, “Medial Turns in Korean Avant-Garde”, and “Binghamton Letter: Nam June Paik at ETC”. Currently writing a doctoral dissertation in the Department of Art History at Binghamton University, State University of New York. Research focuses on analyzing the development and mechanisms of postwar art, particularly in relation to issues of environment, media, and technology.

Hwang Hee-gyeong

She majored in Textile Arts at Hongik University and earned a master’s degree in Design Strategy and Innovation from Brunel University in the UK. She worked as a fashion information planner and trend analysis researcher at a major apparel corporation and a consulting firm. Currently, she is a translator with Barun Translators. Her translated works include Service Design for Customer Experience Innovation and Shoes: A Cultural History of Style.
