She studied literature at Ewha Womans University and Seoul National University and pursued visual design at the Graduate School of Hongik University. After graduation, she worked as the publishing team leader at the design studio AGI Society. Starting with her master’s thesis, Photography as Text and Society as Image: Handling of Photography in Twen」 (2006), she has focused her research on the intersections of photography, text, and design. Currently, she runs the photography book publishing house Aprilsnow (사월의눈), which continues her exploration of these themes. To date, she has curated five photography books and contributed numerous articles on graphic design to various publications. Her authored works include 10 Art Directors of the World (Ahn Graphics, 2009) and Bb: From Basel to Bauhaus (PaTI, 2014, co-author). She also co-translated Graphic Design: A User’s Manual (Semicolon, 2015).
