Chae Sung-zin

채승진

After graduating from the Department of Applied Arts at Seoul National University in 1985, he earned a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Industrial Design from Hongik University in 1987 and from the University of Michigan in 1990. In 2007, she completed her Ph.D. in Design Studies at Seoul National University with his dissertation, The Characteristics of Technology and the Formation of Product Archetypes (advisor: Lee Soon-jong). He served as an associate professor in the Department of Design Engineering at the Korea University of Technology and Education from 1994 to 2002. Since 2002, he has been a professor in the Department of Industrial Design within the Division of Design and the Arts at Yonsei University’s Wonju Campus. He is a member of the Korea Society of Industrial Designers and the Korean Society of Design Science.

Lim Taehee

After completing a research program in Architecture at Kyoto University, he returned to South Korea and gained six years of practical experience in the field. He later went back to Japan and earned a Ph.D. in Architecture from Kyoto Institute of Technology. Currently, he runs Im Taehee Design Studio, continuing to work on various projects.

James Chae

A designer and design educator based in Seoul. He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design and worked in web design and editorial design in New York and Boston. Currently, he is an assistant professor at Hongik University, where she continues his personal projects in editorial work, writing, and web design.
Kim Tae-hwa

After majoring in video animation, he worked as a designer at SBS Digital News Lab’s Operational Content Team, overseeing the design of various brands and contents such as ‘SUBUSU NEWS’ and ‘MMTG’. Since 2021, he has also been designing eco-friendly commerce brand 175Planet.
Park Chang-hyun

Based in Seoul, this architect designs architecture, spaces, and furniture. In 2013, they founded AROUND Architects, focusing on the social perspective of architecture. Their work spatially proposes connections between people in shared spaces and between buildings to foster neighborhood connectivity. Nat McCully

Nat McCully worked at Claris Corporation and Apple Computer in Japanese product development, specializing in text layout, from 1991 to 1998. He then joined Adobe Systems as the lead engineer for the Japanese version of InDesign, implementing text composition and Japanese publishing workflow features. After studying Architectural Engineering at Yonsei University , they worked in the construction industry. Following their completion of the English Publishing Translation program at Gulbab Academy , they began working as a translator affiliated with Barun Translation . Helmut Schmid

Typographer. Born in February 1942 in Austria with German nationality, he completed an apprenticeship as a typesetter in Germany before studying at the Basel School of Design (Schule für Gestaltung Basel) under Emil Ruder, Kurt Hauert, and Robert Büchler. 한국전통문화대학교를 졸업한 후 전통 회화의 재료학적 기법 연구와 지류 문화재 보존을 심도 있게 연구하기 위해 일본으로 유학을 가 도쿄예술대학원 문화재보존학 석박사 학위를 취득하였다. 일본에서 다수의 회화 문화재 복원 모사 및 수리 작업의 연구원으로 활동했으며, 한국에 귀국한 후 객원 연구원으로서 회화 문화재의 복원 모사 사업에 참여했다. 장황에 대한 새로운 접근을 시도하고자 권민성과 함께 2022년 SOKO 장황 스튜디오를 설립했다. 장황이 지류 문화재의 보존 처리와 작품을 표장하는 것에 국한되지 않고 하나의 독립된 공예로 분류되길 바라며 장황을 기반으로 한 다양한 디자인 작업을 진행한다. 현재 SOKO 공동 대표로 활동하고 있으며, 후시카솔 스튜디오 및 전통문화교육원 전통문화사화교육과정에서 모사(전통 회화) 강의를 병행하고 있다.

Naoto Fukasawa was born in 1956 in Yamanashi, Japan. He graduated from Tama Art University in 1980 and began his career at Seiko Epson, where he worked on advanced designs for watches and other micro-electronic devices.
