서울대학교와 미국 로드아일랜드 스쿨 오브 디자인에서 그래픽 디자인을 전공했다. 광고대행사 오리콤에서 일을 시작했고, 프리랜서로 다수의 아이덴티티 디자인 프로젝트를 수행했다. 현재는 SADI(삼성디자인 교육원) 커뮤니케이션 디자인학과 교수로 있다. 저서로 『신타이포그래피 혁명가: 얀 치홀트』 『좋은 디자인을 만드는 33가지 서체 이야기』 『타이포그래피 송시』 등이 있으며 독립 출판한 아티스트 북으로 『Ode to Typography』 『반야심경』 등이 있다.

디자인 전문 출판사에서 책 디자이너로 일을 시작했고 지금은 디자인이라는 토대 위에서 기획자로 일한다. 내가 하는 일을 제대로 알고자 애쓰다 보니 어느새 세 번째 책을 쓰게 되었고 누군가의 앞에서 지식을 나누는 입장이 되었다. 전문 영역으로서의 디자인과 출판을 경험했지만, 일상 속 혹은 일반교양으로서의 디자인과 책 만들기에 조금 더 의미를 둔다. 2012년 8월부터 홍대 앞 상상마당에서 책 만들기 수업을 해왔다. 지은 책으로 『좋은 문서디자인 기본 원리 29』 『인디자인, 편집디자인』(공저) 등이 있다.

Fujimori Terunobu is a Japanese architect and architectural historian. He studied at Tōhoku University before entering graduate school at the University of Tokyo.
