Letters and Diaries Expressed Through the Language of Photos and Texts While Traveling
Freelance editor and art director Park Sun-a wrote letters and captured film photographs while traveling to Berlin, Barcelona, and Paris. The thirty-two letters, addressed to family, friends, former lovers, and even a cat, are written without revealing the recipients’ actual names, giving them a universal quality that feels like they could be meant for any reader. Written during her travels, these letters transcend the journeys themselves and capture the warm, nostalgic moments shared with loved ones. These intimate reflections quickly resonate on a personal level and thereby allow readers to connect them to their own memories. In that aspect, To a Certain Name has remained a cherished book since its original release. So, it was reissued in 2023 with a new cover as part of the Seoul International Book Fair’s special exhibition, Oldies but Newies, further enhancing the book’s diary-like sentiment with a reminiscent visual design.
