Kim Min-young

김민영

Typography consultant. He majored in visual design at Hongik University and received his master’s degree from Musashino Art University in Japan, where he proposed a new direction for CJK-Latin multilingual blending based on the history of multilingual typography and a study of modern and contemporary blending samples in his master’s thesis. After working at Japanese type foundries Morisawa and Fontworks, he founded the typography studio Em Dash in Tokyo, Japan. Based on his diverse experience in three languages and scripts, he is active in various fields such as font development with Google and Adobe, UI/UX consulting based on typography, and writing related books.

Born in February 1942 in Austria with German nationality, he completed an apprenticeship as a typesetter in Germany before studying at the Basel School of Design (Schule für Gestaltung Basel) under Emil Ruder, Kurt Hauert, and Robert Büchler. Chae Hee-joon

Specialized in Korean typography at Kaywon University of Art and Design. Focused on font production, he is an active member of the design studio FORMULA. He has released typefaces such as 「Cheongwol」, 「Cheongjo」, 「Choseol」, 「Goyo」, 「Shinsegae」, 「Tal」, 「Classic」, 「Giha」, and 「Omin」. Passionate about creating typefaces, he enjoys the process of detecting and studying subtle differences in letterforms.

‘삶 디자이너, 생활 방식 모험가, 노머니경제센터장, 잔액부족초기 족장, 생각 수집가, 넝마스터, 다거점 거주 생활 방식을 위한 장소 임대업자, 낮 시간 기획자.’ 이렇게 이상한 직업을 스스로 만들어낸다. 산업디자인을 전공했으나 산업이 모두의 삶을 위협하는 시대임을 깨닫고 삶 디자인으로 개종했다. 삶을 어떻게 살릴 것인가? 삶을 죽이는 것은 무엇인가? 삶을 어디서부터 바꿀 것인가? 이런 화두로 도시에서의 주거 문제, 자급 생산, 생활 기술, 이동 수단, 에너지 전환, 커뮤니티 공간 등을 작업으로 발표한다. “돈이 없는 사람은 있어도 삶이 없는 사람은 없다. 누구나 가지고 있는 삶을 기반으로 시작할 수 있다.”라는 좌우명을 되새기며 살아간다.
Sung Sang-woo

Graduated from Waseda University, Department of Architecture. After working at several design offices, he founded a0100z space design with his life partner in 2009. Currently, he is building a series of houses called ‘House with a Worn Threshold’ and ‘Together’, and runs Jeongchu Seodang in Yongsu Village, Yongin, where he talks about humanities and gives a lecture on humanities architecture called ‘House is Meaning’.

네임리스건축은 아이디어 기반의 설계사무소이다. 나은중과 유소래는 각각 홍익대학교와 고려대학교에서 건축을 공부하고 U.C 버클리 건축대학원을 졸업했다. 2010년 뉴욕에서 네임리스건축을 개소한 뒤 서울로 사무실을 확장했으며, 예측 불허한 세상에 단순함의 구축을 통해 건축과 도시 그리고 문화적 사회현상을 탐구하고 있다. 2012년과 2017년 문화체육관광부 오늘의 젊은예술가상, 미국건축연맹 젊은건축가상, AIA뉴욕건축가협회상, 보스턴건축가협회상, 김수근건축상 프리뷰상 등을 수상했다.
다카오카 마사오

1957년 도쿄 출생으로 유한회사 가즈이공방 대표이사다. 고쿠가쿠인대학교 법률학과 졸업 후 아버지 다카오카 주조가 경영하는 가즈이공방(嘉瑞工房)에 입사해 1995년부터 현직에 있다. 아버지로부터 라틴알파벳 조판과 타이포그래피를 배웠다. 1999–2001년 인쇄박물관, 인쇄공방 어드바이저로 활동하고 라틴알파벳 조판, 타이포그래피, 기업 전용 서체에 관한 강의와 강연을 펼쳐왔다. 영국 왕립예술협회 회원(Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts), 모노타입사 어드바이저, 2009년도 신주쿠 모노쓰쿠리 마이스터 ‘기술 명인’ 인정 도쿄도 신주쿠구 등으로도 활동했다. 활자 서체 부분을 담당한 공저 『인쇄박물관(印刷博物誌)』(2001), 공저 및 감수 『‘인쇄잡지’와 그 시대(「印刷雑誌」とその時代)』(2008), 그리고 『세계의 아름다운 유럽문 활자 견본장(世界の美しい欧文活字見本帳)』(2012) 등의 책을 썼다.
