Unveiling the Persona, Individuality, and Presence of Workers Through ‘Core’
Core is a collection of art by Choi Chul-yong, a fashion designer and artist known for his play between fashion and art. In the exhibition titled Core, Choi focused on the workwear of miners, inspired by his experience in designing uniforms for Meltin’pot and Wrangler Blue Bell. Through these uniforms, Choi aimed to capture both the collective identity and the functionality by drawing on historical references of miner uniforms from the 1890s to the 1910s. The accompanying book reflects the exhibition’s themes, with all text presented in machine embroidery, thus showcasing an experimental and labor-intensive approach.
