Established in 2017, the Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism explores the diverse challenges arising from rapid urban growth through the lens of architecture and urbanism. With a focus on Seoul and other global cities, the Biennale seeks to address pressing urban issues and propose innovative solutions. The Biennale features Thematic Exhibitions centered on a specific theme, Guest Cities Exhibition showcasing pioneering public projects from around the globe, and On-site Projects that bring the theme to life. Additionally, the Biennale directs participatory programs such as Global Studios and educational workshops, providing a collaborative space where experts, government agencies, and members of the community can all come together to envision the future of Seoul.

Renate Raecke

Renate Raecke was born in 1943 in Lübeck, Germany. A German children’s book author and children’s literature critic. Kang E-Roon

He runs the design studio Math Practice in New York City and recently co-founded 908A, which researches and develops design tools for culture and the arts. He studied graphic design at Yale University and was a Special Research Fellow at MIT’s Sensible Cities Lab in the Department of Urban Planning. He has taught at the Bauhaus Weimar University in Germany, New York University ITP, and is currently an Assistant Professor at Parsons School of Design.
Shin Seung-won

An invited artist and judge for the Korea Calligraphy Grand Exhibition, recognized as Korea’s Outstanding New Intellectual for pioneering and promoting calligraphy education programs. Jo Kim

Graphic designer. He majored in communication design at Hongik University, earned a master’s degree from Yale University and a PhD from Hongik University. He is the co-author of the A Dictionary of Typography published by Angraphics in 2012, published “Technical Problems in Multilingual Typography” (2016), and designed typefaces such as “Bemby” in 2017 and “Glyphs Sans” in 2018. He passed away in 2021.
Sung Sang-woo

Graduated from Waseda University, Department of Architecture. After working at several design offices, he founded a0100z space design with his life partner in 2009. Currently, he is building a series of houses called ‘House with a Worn Threshold’ and ‘Together’, and runs Jeongchu Seodang in Yongsu Village, Yongin, where he talks about humanities and gives a lecture on humanities architecture called ‘House is Meaning’.
Kim Hyo-jeong

She majored in psychology and English literature at Yonsei University. She graduated from Glbab Academy and is currently working as a translator at Barun translation. Tsuzuki Kyoichi

Kyoichi Tsuzuki was born in Tokyo in 1956. From 1976 to 1986, he was a freelance editor for the influential men’s fashion and lifestyle magazines Popeye and Brutus, where he wrote on contemporary art, design, urban living, and related topics.
