He graduated from Yonsei University with a bachelor’s degree in architecture and received his master’s degree in architectural design from Harvard University Graduate School of Design (GSD). He has interned and practiced at various offices including Kennedy & Violich Architecture (KVA), Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), and Safdie Architects. He is currently a professor at Seoul National University of Science and Technology, where he founded the OA-Lab architectural research center. Through OA-Lab, he pursues experimental architecture and works on a wide range of projects, from small products to buildings, moving between research and practice. He aims to realize designs based on observation and experimentation that capture life experiences and function positively in our daily lives and society. He graduated from Harvard University as a finalist for the thesis award and with a letter of recommendation, and has since been awarded the AIA Boston Architects’ Housing Competition Grand Prize and the AIA International Council of Regional Architects Grand Prize.
