“Everyone has the right to enjoy beauty.”
Artist who delved into the public, Alphonse Mucha
Alphonse Mucha is considered to be the father of Art Nouveau that thrived in the splendid and charming city of Paris in the late 19th century. He firmly established his place between artistry and commerciality by recognizing the changing trends of the times in the wake of industrialization and then quenching the artistic thirst of the public. After his success in Europe, he went to the United States as a Czech immigrant, and depicted the history of his people in historical paintings. Upon returning to Czech Republic at the age of fifty, he completed a large-scale project with humanistic messages, which then came to be known as his greatest artistic achievement. This book traces Mucha’s artistic journey from Paris, New York to Prague, and introduces us to the life of the celebrated artist.
