1957년 히로시마시 출생. 난센스 그림책을 사랑하는 프리랜스 그림책 편집자이다. 호루푸슛판(ほるぷ出版)에서 『이미지의 숲(イメージの森)』 시리즈로 편집자 일을 시작해 현재까지 그림책 약 300권 이상을 기획하고 편집했다. 기치조지에서 그림책 전문 서점 ‘톰즈박스(トムズボックス)’를 경영하고 있다. 사카이 고마코(酒井駒子), 시마다 유카(島田ゆか), 도이 가야(どいかや), 아라이 료지(荒井良二)의 그림책 데뷔작을 기획하고 편집했으며, 그밖에 많은 그림책 작가를 처음 소개하고 함께 작업했다. 현재 그림책 작가 육성을 위해 워크숍 ‘아토사키주쿠(あとさき塾)’에서 오노 아키라(小野明)와 주재하며 신인을 발굴 중이다. 지은 책으로 『초 신타: 난센스의 지평선에서 온(長新太―ナンセンスの地平線からやってきた)』(河出書房新社, 2007)이 있다.
